Draw on God’s supernatural strength……

I have finally had the chance to sit down and read my Bible……oh, how I have missed it so………

For over 20 years, my morning ritual consisted of getting my hot morning coffee, snuggling up in my big puffy chair, and soaking in what God might have for me that day. Over the last 5 weeks, I have not had a chance to do that, but God, being faithful, has sustained me with His Word through friends, family and people we do not even know, with thoughtful texts/ emails/ visits and posts covered in God’s Word. You will never know the impact this has made. Thank u for your faithfulness.

The Bible is my companion; my lifeline; my hope. I am forever grateful for His Hand in my life. What would we do without Him?

It makes me think back to a little over 20 years ago……
I was pursuing divorce from Jeff…..
Jesus was after my heart, but I wasn’t listening….
My heart was hard……

So, as many of you know, I divorced Jeff in 1992. It was soon after that, that God wouldn’t let me go. Three months after our divorce was final, I came to know Jesus personally, which led me down a pursuit for 7 years, until God restored our marriage and family in 1999.  http://www.iamsecond.com/seconds/the-scruggs/

This past Fall, a new Bible came out (put together by Gene Getz) that we recommend to everyone! It is called the Life Essentials Study Bible. Check out the link to find out what it has to offer.

As I was studying yesterday, God led me to one of the many 1500 principals in this Bible. This one from Ezekiel….It said: “In times of personal tragedy, we must draw on God’s supernatural strength to understand His purpose in our lives and to experience His love and grace more deeply.”

This led to another principal in Genesis which reminded me of God’s providence and divinity: ” When we face difficult situations, we should ask God to help us see some divine meaning in these experiences.

This is my prayer every day……

May God direct your path. Draw on His Power and Strength, and seek Divine meaning in your experiences today.

Cheryl, I simply cannot tell you how you and your precious family have blessed me each day as I read your posts. I drop everything to read every single one when they arrive. I wake persistently during the night praying for each of you as well as praying during waking hours. Your lives have been an amazing testimony to the sustaining power of the Lord to all who read. Please know that prayer will continue. I know you know this already, but should you need anything more AT ALL, please let me know. I would be most honored to help any of you! I love you all so very much! Since our large group format for bible study is over, I will begin another small group study here at home. The ladies in attendance would love to help you do whatever so remember that offer stands for anytime, anywhere.

    Dear Sheryl and Jeff,

Just wanted to say that ever since I heard about Lauren, I’ve been speechless. I know you’ve been bombarded with calls and letters so decided to wait to write to Lauren until it has somewhat subsided. I read your comments on caring bridge and plan to donate – I just can’t imagine what you and Lauren have been through and continue to go through. So I just continue to pray daily for your family. You have been an inspiration to Rick and I.

Left a gift for Lauren from our family with Leam at the Child Evangelism Fellowship Office when I was at the Hope Center yesterday. Also, be sure to listen to Focus on the Family tomorrow afternoon. The author of Fashion by Faith is speaking. I think you and Lauren will enjoy her testimony if you have never heard it. As a former model, it blessed me. love to all, alicia

I too have been blessed and encouraged by seeing your faith, in the reality of the difficulties of this life. Be strong and of good courage, for lo, He is with you always. A stranger, yet, sister in Christ, Jackson, GA.

I heard your comment on the Today Show, Cheryl, about how you are struggling with Lauren’s pain. We mothers bear such a heavy burden, but who else would have our strength? Try to find some daily pleasure and relaxation, through a massage, a hot bubble bath, a hike in the fresh air…anything that will restore you both physically and emotionally. You need to take care of yourself and your own healing too.

All the best to your family and especially to Lauren. This video inspired me so much, I hope it inspires you too:
