A note from dad…….Merry Christmas!
As I drink a hot cup of coffee this morning, and reflect on this Christmas Eve morning of all that has transpired in the last three weeks, I want you to know that our Lord Jesus, our Immanuel, has been with us every step of the way in this journey.
He has comforted us, through our community of friends and believers, with hugs, prayers, tears, presence, cards, letters, emails, flowers, meals, skilled physicians, nurses and therapists. Oh how grateful I am for the body of Christ. We are blessed beyond measure. We have seen the Great Physician provide remarkably through healing and provision.
Three weeks ago, I pleaded with the Lord to spare Lauren’s life. Not only has He done that, but her sweet spirit and loveable personality are intact.
There have been many touching moments for me as her dad. I think my favorites are late at night when I sit by her bed, holding her hand and tickling her arm. I tell her how much I love her and she responds: “Love you daddy, or love daddy-o”. What sweet words! (Remember she didn’t speak for three days following her accident)
We marvel at what the Lord has done and discuss her losses, but praise Him for His Provision: one good eye, one good hand, a strong will, a sweet spirit, but most importantly a firm foundation in Christ.
So my prayer this morning for all of you dads is please slow down, hug your kids and wife and tell them how much you love them, but more importantly tell them how much our Holy Father and Jesus our Savior, loves them.
As we maintain our confidence that God is doing a work in Lauren, and in us, please continue to pray for rapid healing, that God protect her from any infection, that her excruciating pain subside, for rest and quiet, and most of all that God get the Glory for all of this.
Men, love and lead well, forever grateful for the love and Grace of Jesus!
